DESCRIPTION:
The inventory assesses aspects of personality which focus on behaviour in diverse situations. The model has been built on the work by Allport and Odbert (1936). Thousands of personality descriptors have been reduced to five dimensions through factor analysis. Openness to experience includes being imaginative, receptive of new perspectives and appreciation for intellect. Conscientiousness focuses on maintaining a responsible and ethical conduct. People reporting high on this dimension maintain a disciplined and duty bound approach. Extraversion deals with seeking stimulation outside self which can include ease in communication with strangers, being assertive and displaying optimistic orientation. Agreeableness highlights personality characterisitics of being reliable, humble and maintaining genuineness. Emotional regulation measures the level of control one exercises over their expression of intense feelings like anger, sadness, happiness etc.
